Teresa merklin

DATES: May 25-29, 2023
LOCATION: Westwood Country Club, Austin, TX
DIVISIONS: Level 2, 35-85

The Westwood Senior Championships is a Level 2 tournament that is traditionally held over the Memorial Day Weekend in Austin Texas.

The Westwood Country club is located in an idyllic setting adjacent to a nature preserve with stunning views of the Colorado River. Wild peacocks occasionally roam the grounds. Majestic oak trees provide ample shade and the sight lines for spectators are very good on most courts.

This tournament includes senior men’s and women’s division as well as mixed doubles. Additionally, Westwood offers 55+ senior divisions which is nice for players with family and friends that want to play competitive matches at their level.

The court-side restaurant has a widely varied menu and people rave about the food. The same site offers a full service bar. NWTO members received a $10 voucher which was honored in the restaurant as well as the tennis pro shop. The tournament offered a Texas style Barbecue in the ballroom of the club on Saturday evening.

NWTO members were well represented in this tournament and many took home the iconic “Westwood Pottery” that is handed out to the winners.

Circle your calendar for Memorial Day weekend in 2024. This is a tournament that you don’t want to miss.
