Results of NWTO Survey of USTA Sections: Question 9
In 2022-2023, a Task Force of the Board of the NWTO completed a 10-question survey of 16 of the 17 Sections of the USTA (all but the Caribbean). The newsletter will be publishing the results of the survey, one question at a time. Learn more about this initiative here.
QUESTION 9: Does (or has) the Section survey(ed) the adult USTA members as to their wants and needs?
Florida: Yes, the surveys focus on league players overall experience at the local and section level.
Midwest: No. On occasion they will ask a specific target group that is large. Once again, the Midwest has no interest in age-level play. He stated that there have been no requests for age-level play.
Intermountain: No, but it would like to. The USTA has a tool for tournaments that the Section has not used yet. Monica thinks that surveys are a good idea.
Eastern: Yes.
Pacific Northwest: Yes.
Southern California: Through last year, the Section would send out a survey at the conclusion of every tournament. That is now handled by a 3rd party, and the results are fed to the Sections. The Section does send out an end-of-year survey for both league and tournament play.
Texas: No recent data on tournaments but an interest in doing this. National has a survey with data that flows to Texas, but that is event specific.
Southern: The section has done after-tournament surveys of players but not one of the entire membership.
New England: Yes they have. They could enhance the surveys, and could do more often. They primarily send out surveys after the USTA leagues are done.
Northern California: Only at their Grand Prix event (currently this is an NTRP only event).
Southwest: The USTA sometimes surveys league players. The Northern New Mexico District does survey players, but only about leagues.
Middle States: Yes, anyone who participates in an event immediately gets a survey from USTA National.
Northern: Not on a regular basis but they have surveyed the adult members occasionally in the past. They are working on sending one out this year.
Hawaii: They do not conduct a separate section survey. USTA National conducts the survey and shares the responses relevant to our Section with us. The relationships they nurture within their Section help them to understand the pulse of the Section and player wants and needs.
MidAtlantic: For some things yes, but not specific to age division events.
Missouri Valley: The league players are surveyed, but the tournament players are not.
