Understanding Level 2 Tournaments

Level 2 tournaments sit just below the prestigious Level 1 or National Championship events. These tournaments draw both local and national competitors, offering significant ranking points and notable competition. Participants can compete in singles and doubles across various age groups. Some Level 2 events feature family divisions, such as mother-daughter doubles, adding to the fun competition.

WHEN: March 11-15, 2026
WHERE: Charleston, South Carolina
DIVISIONS: 30-80 S/D, Mother/Daughter, and 2.5, 3.0. and 3.5 Doubles

The beautiful Daniel Island Club just outside Charleston, South Carolina hosts the annual NWTO Championships with the hospitality of the Lowcountry. This clay court tournament features a Thursday night banquet and three days of box lunches provided by the Daniel Island Club. All players are invited to a social evening planned at the home of a club member. A concurrent doubles tournament for NTRP players is held in an effort to show league players the fun that can be had in age group tournaments. New to the event is a mother/daughter division. Meet new friends, play great tennis, and experience the beauty and quaintness of one of America’s most charming and historic cities. 

 

Harry Barton Clay Court Championships

WHERE: Baton Rouge, LA
DIVISIONS: 30-75 S/D

Pack your all whites for ​​the Harry Barton Clay Court Championships played on 20 hydrocourt clay courts at the beautiful Bocage Racquet Club. Players can expect a warm welcome and genuine Southern Louisiana hospitality with player parties, buffet dinners, live music, burgers on the balcony, and a continental breakfast served each morning. The blend of competitive clay-court tennis and memorable social events makes this tournament one players return to year after year.

WHERE: Austin, TX
DIVISIONS: 35-85, Mother/Daughter & Father/Son

Set in an idyllic location adjacent to a nature preserve along the Colorado River, the Westwood Senior Championships in Austin, TX returns for their 52nd year as one of the USTA’s premier Level 2 events. Hosted at the stunning Westwood Country Club nestled on Lake Austin, the club boasts breathtaking views, majestic oak trees that provide ample shade, and the unforgettable charm of wild peacocks roaming the grounds—an atmosphere familiar to fans of the ATX Open, a WTA 250 event also held on site. The tournament features men’s and women’s divisions for ages 35–85, mixed doubles, and popular mother/daughter and father/son draws, offering something for every competitive player and their supporters. Off the courts, participants can relax and socialize at the highly regarded court-side café, enjoy a full-service bar, and take part in special social events that make this tournament as fun as it is competitive. Combine high-level tennis with iconic “Westwood Pottery” trophies, live music, and Austin’s legendary barbecue, and you have an unforgettable Memorial Day weekend experience both on and off the court.

The Pacific Coast Senior and Family Championships (PCSF) takes place at the prestigious Berkeley Tennis Club, nestled in the hills overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Named Northern California tournament of the year in ’24 and ’25, the event offers playing opportunities for the whole family.  

The Berkeley Tennis Club is the crown jewel of the San Francisco Bay Area tennis community. Over the course of the club’s 120-year history, dozens of the game’s most legendary women have competed on its courts including Hall of Famer Billie Jean King, Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens, and rising star Iva Jovic. 

Just like the pros, players are given credentials, a player gift, personalized name cards for the score tenders, accompanied to match courts, and access to a massage therapist.  The tournament goes above and beyond by offering players three complimentary meals a day and nightly parties on the club’s amazing deck.

All matches  are played on ten pristine hard courts, in the shadow of the grand Claremont Hotel, where reduced room rates are offered. The site is located minutes away from Berkeley’s famed “gourmet ghetto”  where you can find exceptional food and fine shops.  Plan a day to sight see in San Francisco or in Napa’s wine country before play starts again at the Marin Championships!

 

Marin Championships

DIVISIONS: Men’s and Women’s 30 - 85 singles and doubles

Celebrating its 50th year, this tournament is a premier Northern Cal event that welcomes 300 players across 49 divisions. Known for its exceptional hospitality and player-first experience, the tournament delivers both high-level competition and outstanding amenities. Players enjoy a complementary breakfast each morning, a lively cocktail party and two hosted dinners that add strong social elements to the week. Matches are played across three stunning venues: Mill Valley Tennis Club, The Club at Harbor Point, and Belvedere Tennis Club. Each site keeps healthy snacks stocked for the players all day with additional food options at the clubs’ on-site restaurants. Professional stringing services are available at two locations.

 

WHEN: July 27 - August 2
WHERE: Seattle, WA
DIVISIONS: Men’s Open; Men’s 35-90 (not 40) singles/doubles; Women’s Open; Women’s 35-90 (not 40); Mixed Open

Often compared to Monte Carlo for its breathtaking setting, the Washington State Open is staged at the iconic Seattle Tennis Club, perched on Lake Washington. For the week, players are treated as club members and enjoy access to on-site amenities. Each participant receives an event t-shirt and is invited to a complimentary pasta dinner. Now in her third year as Assistant Tournament Director, Mei McRae oversees this 870-player event, fostering an atmosphere that blends elite competition (vying for significant prize money in the Open divisions) with camaraderie and social connection. The site has sports medicine and chiropractic physicians and certified athletic trainers on hand. As an added spectacle, the Blue Angels fly practice runs over the club to prepare for Seafair Weekend.
