This preview is Part 2 of a series featuring the upcoming Level 2 tournaments scheduled in some of the most picturesque locations across the United States. This is your chance to rally your friends and family and start organizing what promises to be an unforgettable tennis vacation.

Understanding Level 2 Tournaments

Level 2 tournaments sit just below the prestigious Level 1 or National Championship events. These tournaments draw both local and national competitors, offering significant ranking points and notable competition. Participants can compete in singles and doubles across various age groups. Some Level 2 events feature family divisions, such as mother-daughter doubles, adding to the fun competition.

Pack your bags and start dreaming about where tennis will take you…

Alan Fleming L2 Clay Senior Open & Alan Fleming Open L1 Mixed Doubles

WHEN: Oct. 6-11
WHERE: Johns Island, SC
DIVISIONS: W/M30-80, MXD 40-80

The Fleming Open returns to Seabrook Island October 6–11, 2026, following major recognition by the International Tennis Federation, which honored the tournament with its 2025 Tournament Recognition Award, honoring tournaments that deliver exceptional player experience and achieve the highest satisfaction ratings worldwide. Now in its 42nd year, the tournament is a USTA National Level 2/ITF event for men and women in age divisions 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80, as well as a USTA National Level 1/ITF Mixed Doubles Tournament for ages 40 through 80. Hosted at the Seabrook Island Racquet Club, the event attracts more than 300 players from across the United States and around the world.

Laura Ferreira, Director of Racquet Sports, coordinates the tournament in partnership with the USTA, alongside a dedicated team of Seabrook Island residents who volunteer their time and talents to support tournament operations. This year’s tournament chair, Mary Anne Rayfield, shared, “The Fleming Open is much more than a tennis tournament — it’s a celebration of sportsmanship, friendship, and the welcoming spirit of our Seabrook Island community. Players return year after year because they feel genuinely embraced both on and off the court.”

A longstanding tradition of the Fleming Open is its commitment to supporting local charities. This year’s designated beneficiary is Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving the Charleston area. Founded in 1978, the organization is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing through the construction, rehabilitation, and preservation of homes, while also providing training and resources to help families improve their living conditions.

The $170 entry fee includes participation in up to two events (doubles: one or two events; singles: one event maximum; mixed doubles: one event maximum), a commemorative tournament pullover, and admission to the Friday evening oceanfront celebration featuring cocktails, dinner, and music.

Whether you’re a player, sponsor, volunteer, or spectator, the 42nd Annual Fleming Open promises an unforgettable week of championship tennis, community connection, and philanthropy. Spectator attendance is free and open to the public. We look forward to seeing you there!
