Tournament Recap: USTA Women’s National Grass Courts, ages 30-80
LOCATION: Rancho Mirage, CA
DIVISIONS: 30,40,50,60,70,80,90
Over 80 competitors gathered at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA, for an opportunity to compete for a gold ball on what many consider the finest grass courts in the country. Tournament Director Carlos Nunez, assisted by NWTO member Andi Polisky, put together a memorable event that welcomed players with thoughtful touches, including personalized bag tags, tournament t-shirts, and a festive player dinner in the clubhouse complete with a DJ and dancing.
The age divisions featured staggered start times throughout the week, allowing younger divisions to play into the weekend. The player dinner brought the divisions together, offering everyone a wonderful opportunity to socialize.
While every Level 1 tournament attracts top competitors from across the nation, the true heart of these events lies in the many players who show up for the challenge of competition, love of the sport, the desire to be a little bit better than their previous tournament, and the lasting camaraderie. Here’s to all the players who gave their best throughout the tournament, and congratulations to those who walked away with a USTA ball!
