San Diego Launches NWTO Ambassador Pilot with a Splash (Literally)
The NWTO Ambassador Pilot Program made its debut on February 19 when Liane Bryson hosted a San Diego pop-up at the Balboa Tennis Club, proving that not even pounding rain and thunder can keep tennis players away from a good gathering.
A spirited group of 29 players braved the storm to watch sports psychologist and newest NWTO partner Dr. Tracey King’s webinar, “Mind, Set, Match,” where participants worked on getting their tennis minds calibrated and their mental toughness properly tuned up. Light refreshments, plenty of laughter, and the easy camaraderie of a social tennis crowd rounded out the late afternoon.
After the webinar, attendees were introduced to NWTO, an organization run by and for age-level players, along with a quick myth-busting moment about national age-division tournaments: they’re welcoming, accessible, and far less intimidating than their reputation suggests.
All non-member guests received a complimentary one-year NWTO membership, welcoming 16 new players into the NWTO community through the Ambassador Program and turning a rainy February afternoon into the start of many new connections and (hopefully) age-level tournament players.
If this first event is any indication, the Ambassador Program is off to a strong and spirited start.
